We offer you an unforgettable trip to the national park “Khortitsa”, located on one of the biggest Dnieper islands (2 700 acres).

Here you will see the show of the Horse theatre “Zaporizhka Sich”.
Archaeological excavations testify that the island was settled in the Eneolith epoch. Here the ancient Slavic pagan tribes made a sacrifice to their god Khorus, who, possibly, had given his name to the island.
Historical sources tell that in XVI cent. Prince Dmitri Vyshnevetski founded the first Zaporozhian Sich on the island of Small Khortitsa. On the highest place of the island, protected by towers, the Cossacks made earthen walls with drove in oak logs. In this defense line there were the holes for guns. The most powerful Cossack community of about 3 000 warriors lived on Khortitsa island. All other Cossack communities were “armed brothers” of the Sich, so, if needed, one can gather about 40 000 warriors.
Today the actors of the horse theatre “Zaporizhka Sich” present fascinating scenes from Zaporozhian Cossacks’ life. You could see some traditional Cossack games and get to know how they spent time between battles: riding the horses, playing with a whip, dancing. The guests would be offered to taste the traditional Cossack kulish (pilaf) and horilka (vodka).

Note: After show you will have a possibility to ride a horse, so we recommend putting on comfortable clothes and shoes.
