Kyiv
Open Air museum, situated on southwest suburb of Kyiv, was founded in 1969 and open for public in 1976.
The museum occupies the territory of 375 acres and has more than 60 000 exhibits in 300 different constructions brought here from all over Ukraine. The museum is divided into 6 sections in accordance with historic and ethnographic zones, characterized by their geographical position, social, economic and cultural development: areas on Middle Dnieper, Poltava region, Polesje (North Ukraine), Podolje (central Ukraine), Carpathian Mountains and South Ukraine.
You will see country houses, churches, windmills, former village school and many other buildings. Each exposition has a piece of land with trees, bushes, flowers, fruits and vegetables typical for this geographical zone.
Note: The museum is located on a huge territory, thus we recommend footwear convenient for long walking.
